When I first met Mark, I told him I was signed up for Ironman Wisconsin 2003. I could not swim even one length of the pool. In fact, he had to put a flotation device around my waist to keep me afloat. Within 8 weeks, I swam my first 400-yard swim. Within 8 months, I competed in my first triathlon. I actually became a proficient swimmer, and my confidence level improved greatly. The swim component of the Ironman had previously been my most dreaded event. With Mark's help, it became my easiest. I completed the Ironman Wisconsin 2003 and was able to run the last length with my 3-year old daughter.
