Melissa Peyton
I started participating in sprint triathlons a few years ago and graduated to Olympic distance the following year. Even though I grew up loving the water, I knew my swim stroke was not efficient. When I swam, I worked my tail off and still didn't move very fast. Additionally, I had panic attacks in the water and felt lucky to finish the swim portion of the triathlons. A friend suggested I contact Mark. Within four one-on-one sessions, Mark completely stripped down my stroke and re-programmed my muscle memory. I joined his Masters' class that fall, and went from swimming a 9:29 400-yard time trial to a sub 8:00 400-yard time trial. More importantly, I participated in three triathlon events the summer after Mark's coaching: an Olympic distance, a Half-Ironman, and an Ironman and had no more panic attacks in the water. In fact, the swim portion of each event was hands-down the most enjoyable leg. In addition to being my swim coach, Mark is now my triathlon coach and trusted friend.
