Sheila Barmore, PT
2003, 2004 Ironman Wisconsin Finisher
2004, 2006 Ironman Lake Placid Finisher
2006 Kona Qualifier
In November of 2003, I asked Mark if he could teach me to swim. He said he could work miracles, and he did...
I remember the first 2 months were terrible, I could not swim more than 50 yds without stopping to rest. I
was doing lots of drills and wasn't even working hard enough to stay warm. Every time I got out of the pool,
my teeth were chattering.
But I stuck with Mark's program and after he told me it was 'forbidden' for me to rest until I swam a 100, my
progress came faster. Mark kept updating my program, always keeping me moving forward. He analyzed my stroke
and helped me learn how to improve my efficiency.
In June of 2003, about 7 months after starting lessons with Mark, I competed in my first Tinman and swam
1.2 miles in 33:03. In September, I was able to swim the 2.4mi Ironman Wisconsin in 69 minutes (not bad
considering I had to stop 2 or 3 times because of cramping in my calves.)
I would say that was pretty close to a miracle on Mark's part.
Mark is highly skilled in stroke analysis and knows just what drills will help "fix" a given problem. His workouts
are tailored to your particular needs in regard to stroke improvement and he takes into consideration the time you
have available for your training.
And if you are considering a triathlon, the Lake Class is an absolute must and great fun!!
Many people were involved in helping me reach my triathlon goals, Mark is right there at the top of the list.
