IM List

Have any of you veteran IM'ers put together a "prep list" of everything you need going into IM that you can share? Example: Swim - goggles, body glide, ear plugs, etc.

You get a list with your race packet about 2 weeks ahead of time. It is VERY comprehensive - you will find many things that you don't need on the list, but there is nothing missing that you may want.

From my first IM last year, I found a few things to be different and spent too much energy on things at the last minute. The list they provide is helpful. But if you have to go shopping last minute for something you might be SOL.

One thing I would add is that IM is probably differnet than the other races you will do in that you need to have your transition bags packed and dropped off the day before the event. You can make some final additions or changes that morning, but that is one more thing to do on a busy morning. The transition bags are not huge, and you do not want to have to sort through a bunch of stuff in transitions or special needs. Most prepare for warm weather, few were prepared for cold rain last year. There were a lot of people buying knee warmers, shoe covers, ... at the last minute on Saturday.

Saturday should be your low stress day to just get things dropped off and then rest. So, try to get things figured out a few days in advance.
